The resort has more of a town feel to it, with its interesting food shops and bars, and also has an Olympic skating ink and thermal baths. Prices are a lot cheaper than the nearby resort of Megeve, whose slopes the town shares. In town, a rack-and-pinion railway will take guest to the slopes of Les Houches, opening up yet more pistes to the visitors, whilst in good conditions, it is possible to ski to and from Chamonix.
