Backbowls were lots of fun
4 star4 star4 star4 star
Last weekend we were in Vail and already missing it like crazy, spring conditions were replaced by an unusual bombardment of snow, heavy falls and big dumps every day to ensure massive powder days in the backbowls. SOme of the best skiing to be had in the trees of Blue Sky. I would defo reco this place for serious skiers and also good cruising intermediates. Value for money in bars and rests was great with $2 to £. Oh yea, we flew on the United direct flight which was under 10hrs so not too far.

Excellent spring conditions

Managed to get in a couple of days spring skiing in Vail in early April.... what excellent conditions and a great end to the season it was! More of this for next year please! Vail offers a range of options. We stayed at the Antlers Condos in Lionshead which meant we were only a couple of mins from the centre of Lionshead Village, off and up the mountain! Plenty of skiing available in Vail and would definately take you a while to get bored! You must get across to the famous Backbowls for some excellent terrain. You can also ski the nearby resorts of Beaver Creek and slightly further afield Breckenridge on the same lift ticket! Nightlife was also very good with plenty of bars to choose from! Just over a 2 hour transfer from Denver airport which wasn't that bad.... definately worth the flight over from the UK! Counting down to next season NOW!

Snow playground for all

Skied Vail with family and friends over two weeks March/April, expecting good spring conditions to cruise around and see the season out. What a shock to the system! Dumps of powder most days, almost on demand. 13 inches fell in just one night, taking Vails tally over 10 metres for the season, revitalising piste areas and creating powder heaven on un-groomed terrain. Forget the cruising. This resort, under full cover, makes you explore the limites of your own ability, what ever level you're at. The famous back bowls were in great shape and even groomed in part, turning it to a snow playground for all. One big bonus of Vail for mixed ability groups is the amount of terrain that can be skied by the whole party. The topography and piste allow green, blue, black and un-groomed runs to combine on a single location and meet at the same chairs for the onward journey. Blue Sky Basin is king here. A must ski area for everyone. The front-faced runs back to Village were also in excellent condition. So, with the additional spring daylight assisting, we stretched these ski days to the limit. Stayed at The Evergreen Lodge at Vail. Excellent facilities. Stonking good breakfast. Close to lifts and Vail Village amenities with a good range of restaurants. Vail left me in no doubt its one of the worlds best resorts. I'll cetainly be back.
